Self- initiated Work
Alongside my university work, I love to explore my creativity by sewing my own clothing, as well as upcycling my unloved garments. I also enjoy hand embroidery, crochet, and knitting, and after completing my degree work for my first year, I decided to stay on so that I could get creative in the print room. I designed a floral print inspired by my favourite flower, the lily, and screen printed my design using left over print pastes to reduce wastage. The fabric itself was a second hand bedsheet that I revitalised by hand dyeing, as sustainability plays an important role in my creative work. With my hand printed fabric, I created a beautiful summer dress by adapting one of my old dress patterns, complete with tie- up straps and a hidden zip to add the finishing touches.
